Divinely Pen – Qaf and Qalam

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Qaaf – in Quran is Allah’s Qudrah (Divinely Power)  قرآن

Means that the Qaf is holding the power. That that qaf and Allah (AJ)’s Divinely Qudra, Allah (AJ)’s Divinely Oceans of Power is the Source of this energy and this light, moving. Later we go into where that’s moving from, but to understand we are being dressed by the qaf. Allah (AJ) in Holy Qur’an says, “Qaf wal Qur’an al Majid.”

ق ۚ وَالْقُرْ‌آنِ الْمَجِيدِ ١

50:1Qaf, wal Quranil Majeed. ” (Surat Qaf)

“Qaf. By the honored Qur’an.
  (Holy Quran 50:1)

Means that to draw our attention to the qaf and that this is the Source of Oceans of Power that we want to be dressed by these lights.

Qaaf is Dressing the Noon of Quran قرآن

That qaf is dressing the noon of Quran. That nur that coming from that noon is not like any other nur, that we have many different layers and levels of nur. But this noon and this nur is coming through the qaf. That is the light that we are asking to be dressed by. That is the light in which dresses the soul of its eternal realities.

Contemplate when you read Holy Quran

Then Mawlana Shaykh is directing us to understand, because we want to be dressed by these realities. Not just you hold the Qur’an and keep reading it and not understanding. Year after year, year after year, you are reading it; but not thinking and contemplating with the heart that what are these letters? What are these words? What are these powers? What are these oceans of power? What type of nur and light and how am I going to reach to that light, to the secret of Holy Qur’an?

Why are awliyaullah carrying the secret of Holy Qur’an? Because you and I, we all read the same kitab (book), but why are we not getting that reality, experiencing that reality? Means they teach us that make your tafakkur and your contemplation. You want to be dressed by that “Qaf wal Qur’an al Majid,”(Holy Quran 50:1), it’s coming to the noon, That nur (light) is dressing us.

Noon wal Qalam – Allah (AJ) Testifies by the Qalam (Pen)

Then how to understand that noon– in Surat al Qalam: “Noon; wal qalam.”

ن ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ ﴿١

68:1 – “Noon. wal Qalami wa ma yasTuroon.” (Surat Al-Qalam)

“Noon. By the pen and what they inscribe.” (The Pen, 68:1)

Means now that becomes a big ocean that you want the noon, Allah (AJ) testifies by the qalam. So one, in our life, they say, ‘The pen is mightier than the sword.’ So take a life of qalam, take a life of being a student; take a life of seeking knowledge and realities. As much as you are using the qalam to reach realities, as much as we are becoming a seeker. As we use the qalam, it begins to teach us the qalam is the secret of manifestation. The nobility of our creation is in the thumb; what separates us from a monkey or baboon is a thumb so that we can hold a qalam.

So qalam, as soon as you write, something is manifesting. As soon as you draw something, something is manifesting. Means that reality of the qalam is in the physical, so we take a life of seeking, a life of reaching and asking to reach towards realities, to be always a student of realities, to move towards that.

What does Allah (AJ) mean by the Pen?

Then Mawlana Shaykh begins to teach that: always contemplate beyond the physical, that into the timeless reality. What is Allah (AJ) mean by qalam– there is no hand up there in the sky drawing something. Means that each of the huroof (letters) must be standing for something. We have said before, you say cake, and everybody says, ‘Oh I have had that cake before.’ No, but what makes the cake is important, because we have, the flour, has salt, has sugar- what are the elements that making that to be powerful?

So when we go towards a timeless reality, the qalam is no longer the importance of the physical pen but must have a reality and a secret within it.

Qalam is made of the letters: Qaaf, Laam, Meem 

Qaf is the Qudra and the Source of Power that Manifests the Quran
Then Mawlana Shaykh’s teaching begins to teach: okay qalam, we’re trying to understand how to reach to that “Noon; wal qalam,” that that qalam has a qaf. Again, this qaf is appearing, “Qaf wal Qur’an al Majid,”

ق ۚ وَالْقُرْ‌آنِ الْمَجِيدِ ١

50:1Qaf, wal Quranil Majeed. ” (Surat Qaf)

Qaf. By the honored Qur’an.
  (Holy Quran 50:1)

Means Allah (AJ)’s directing us that when you see that qaf, it’s a qudra. It’s Allah (AJ)’s Divinely Qudra. It is the Source of Power that is making this Qur’an to come out. And that’s why the Holy Qur’an, it is the source of power that encompasses everything. Allah (AJ) says, ‘If it’s living or dead, that We can bring the dead to life,’ everything is in there, not in the book, but in the qudra and the oceans of power, of Allah (AJ)’s uncreated Divinely Speech. We always remember within our hearts: it’s uncreated Divinely Speech.[Q’n]

 Laam is Lisanul Haq – Tongue of Truth

That qaf is moving to a lam; lam signifies the tongue, lisan al haqq (tongue of turth) because Allah (AJ) is ‘a hidden treasure wanting to be known’.

كُنْت كَنْزاً مخفيا فَأَحْبَبْت أَنْ أُعْرَفَ؛ فَخَلَقْت خَلْقاً فَعَرَّفْتهمْ بِي فَعَرَفُونِي
“Kuntu kanzan makhfiyya, fa ahbabtu an a’rafa, fa khalaqtu khalqan, fa ‘arraftahum bi fa ‘arafonee.” Hadith Qudsi

“I was a hidden Treasure then I desired to be known, so I created a creation to which I made Myself known; then they knew Me.”

Allah (AJ) is not just speaking from a place in the universe that is manifesting sound, but Allah (AJ) is directing us that there must be a lisan, there must be a tongue for Me that manifests My realities. Just between the qaf and the lam.

If Quran Revealed on a Mountain, it would be Dust

Allah (AJ) begins to describe in Holy Qur’an, ‘If I revealed my Qur’an to the mountain,’ because we are in creation small; we think of Mount Everest and how many thousands of feet in the air. Allah (AJ) says, ‘If I revealed My Qur’an to the mountain, khashi’a, it would be dust.’ But, comes to the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ and nothing, he is firm.

لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُّتَصَدِّعًا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ وَتِلْكَ الْأَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

59:21 – “Law anzalna hadha alQurana ‘ala jabalin laraaytahu, khashi’an mutasaddi’an min khashyatillahi, wa tilkal amthalu nadribuha linnasi la’allahum yatafakkaroon.” (Surat Al-Hashr)

“Had We sent down this Qur’an on a mountain, verily, you would have seen it obliterated to dust (from its power) And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will Contemplate…” (The Exile, 59:21)

قل  Nothing Can Hold Allah’s ‘Qul’ قل, Except the Heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)

Now we’re beginning to understand that greatness of Prophetﷺ for revealing Holy Qur’an to creation, revealing it in the physical, but what did you reveal in the world of light? Allah (AJ) is teaching that that qaf and lam, when they come together, it denotes ‘Qul’. ‘Qul‘ means ‘say’; Allah (AJ)’s Divinely Qul– nothing can hold it. There is not an angel that can hold Allah (AJ)’s Qul; there’s not a prophet that can hold Allah (AJ)’s Qul; there’s not a human being or anything in creation that can contain or hold Allah (AJ)’s Qul, except the heart of Sayyidina Muhammadﷺ.

Qalam = Qul Meem : Say O Muhammad

قلم  = قل م
Allah (AJ) clarifies that, because the qalam is Qul to the meem; ‘Qul’ is directing itself to the meem. The meem, if you look, is a qalam. The meem that sticks down is the pen of Allah (AJ), is the ocean of manifestation of Allah (AJ). When Allah (AJ) wants to manifest and wants creation to manifest, merely ‘Qul‘ into the heart of Prophetﷺ in the world of souls and Sayyidina Muhammadﷺ, ‘kun fa ya koon.’ Means immediately it manifesting by the order of Allah (AJ). [N]

إِنَّمَا أَمْرُ‌هُ إِذَا أَرَ‌ادَ شَيْئًا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ ﴿٨٢﴾

36:82 – “Innama AmruHu idha Arada shay an, an yaqola lahu kun faya koon.” (Surat Yaseen)

“His Command is when He Wills/Intends a thing, He says to it, “Be,” and it is!” (Yaseen, 36:82)

Qalam al Qudra, the Pen of Might, the Pen of Power, it is the manifestation through the heart of Prophetﷺ. That is the nur (light), that is the Muhammadan Nur. We are trying to reach to that nur, trying to reach to the Holy Qur’an.

Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believer – Prophet Muhamamd ﷺ

And Allah (AJ) is directing us that, ‘What you want, I’m not in heavens and I’m not on the earth, but I’m in the heart my believer.’ And who’s Allah (AJ)’s believer- is Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ.

مَا وَسِعَنِيْ لَا سَمَائِيْ ولا اَرْضِيْ وَلَكِنْ وَسِعَنِيْ قَلْبِ عَبْدِيْ اَلْمُؤْمِنْ
“maa wasi`anee laa Samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdee al Mu’min.”

“Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.” (Hadith Qudsi conveyed by Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Means they begin to direct us, that what you are looking for of Allah (AJ), what you are looking for of realities is in the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ. There must be a tashrif, a respect, a love, salutations constantly upon Prophetﷺ, to enter into the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ, to enter into the nazar of Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ because it begins to dress us from that light.

When we begin to understand the greatness of Prophetﷺ, and how is the soul of Prophetﷺ able to manifest Allah (AJ)’s Divinely Speech that is not created- this is azimat an Nabi. Allah (AJ)’s uncreated Power that is not created, His Holy Qur’an, His Ocean of Power is moving through the heart of Prophetﷺ. How is it possible? It’s beyond imagination.

If you want Allah (AJ)’s Love, Follow and Love Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ

When Allah (AJ) wants to be known, be known through the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammadﷺ. So they begin to direct us that, that’s the power of the salawats, that’s the power of Mawlid an Nabi, that’s the power of the love of Prophetﷺ. That’s why:’Qul in kuntum tuhibbonAllah, fattabioni.” (‘Tell them O Muhammad (s), If you love Allah, follow me.’)

قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّوْنَ اللَّـهَ فَاتَّبِعُوْنِيْ يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّـهُ وَيَغْفِرْ‌ لَكُمْ ذُنُوْبَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ‌ رَّ‌حِيمٌ  ﴿٣١﴾

3:31 – “Qul in kuntum tuhibbon Allaha fattabi’oni, yuhbibkumullahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunobakum wallahu Ghaforur Raheem.” (Surat Ali-Imran)

“Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Family of Imran, 3:31)

Allah (AJ) says, ‘You want to reach to that love, you want to reach to My Divinely Love, you want to reach to My Oceans of Power, direct yourself to Prophetﷺ.’

Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ will teach you Islam, Iman, and Ihsan

As you direct yourself to Prophetﷺ, he’s going to fix our Islam, bring us into submission. Then he’s going to fix our iman (faith), when he taught his Sahabi: your iman is based on love, if you don’t love me more than you love yourself, you are deficient in your faith.

لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَالِدِهِ وَوَلَدِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ ‏”‏‏.‏

La yuminu ahadukum hatta akona ahabba ilayhi min walidihi wa waladihi wan Nasi ajma’yeen.

“None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.” Prophet Muhammad ()

Means then Prophetﷺ directs us towards our iman, that we have to love Sayyidina Muhammadﷺ more than we love ourselves. With our Islam and our iman perfecting, it becomes dar al ihsan, the abode of perfection, to worship as if you see Allah (AJ). If you don’t see Allah (AJ), know that He sees you.

Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen.

Bi hurmati Muhammad al Mustafa wa bi sirri Surat al Fatiha.
