Gates of Forgiveness in Muharram – All Prophets Dress Us From Realities
From the Realities of Mawlana (Q) as taught by Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi.
A’uzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the rejected one
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, was salaatu was salaamu ‘alaa Ashraful Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Mawlana Muhammadul Mustafa ﷺ.
Fast in Muharram to be Dressed by Tajjalis of ‘Ashura
We’re moving to the city of lights and all the nations dressed with a tremendous forgiveness on these ten nights culminating upon the 10th of Muharram, known as ‘Ashura, Ash-e-Nura, an opening of light. That it’s recommended to fast on the ninth and tenth and through the layl (night), in the time of night time Allah (AJ) bestows the tajallis (manifestation), and by the day time to be dressed by those tajallis. The best way to receive those lights is through fasting. That Allah (AJ) give the reward directly, that no angel, no Prophet, no one to know what type of reward that Allah (AJ) bestow upon the soul, that with that understanding, and every nation was saved in Ash-e-Nura, in ‘Ashura, in this holy ten days.
Acceptance of Sayyidina Adam’s (as) Repentance
That from Sayyidina Adam (as) and his fall to earth, Allah (AJ) on ‘Ashura accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam (as) and allowed him to remember the words in which Allah (AJ) bestowed upon him to ask for forgiveness.
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Ya Hamidu bi Haqqi Muhammad ﷺ, Ya ‘Aliyu be Haqqi ‘Ali (as), Ya Khaliqu bi Haqqi Fatimatuz Zahra (as), Ya Rahmanu bi Haqqi Hassan (as), Ya Raheemu bi Haqqi Hussain (as).”
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
O’ the Praiseworthy for the sake of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), O’ the Most High for the sake of Imam ‘Ali (as), O’ the Creator for the sake of Fatima Zahra (as), O the Most Compassionate for the sake of Imam Hassan (as), O’ the Most Merciful for the sake of Imam Hussain (as).
Sayyidina Nuh’s (as) Nation was Forgiven and Saved
Through the understanding of the heart and the reality of the Prophets, is Sayyidina Nuh (as) was forgiven, the nation was saved. Sayyidina Nuh (as) was saved on a ship on ‘Ashura. It means the 10th of Muharram, the ship had landed upon the earth and they were saved from the difficulty of the water and the azaab (punishment) that Allah (AJ), the punishment, that Allah (AJ) had set upon the earth.
11:37-38 – “Wa sna’i alfulka bi a’yunina wa wahyina wa la tukhaTibnee fil ladheena Zhalamo, innahum mughraqon. (37) Wa yasna’u alfulka wa kullama marra ‘alayhi malaon min qawmihi sakhiro minhu, qala in taskharo minna fa inna naskharu minkum kama taskharon. (38)” (Surat Hud)
“And construct the Ark/ship under Our observation and Our inspiration, and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned. (37) And he constructed the Ark, and whenever an assembly of the Chiefs/eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, “If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule.” (Hud, 11:37-38)
Fire Becoming Cool & Peaceful for Sayyidina Ibrahim (as)
That Sayyidina Ibrahim (as); Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman ‘ala Ibrahim (as)
(Surat Al-Anbiya)
“We said, O fire, be cool and Peaceful upon Abraham.” (The Prophets, 21:69)
That when Nimrod had thrown Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) into the fire and ‘Ashura, that the king had thrown Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) into the fire and Ashura, that fire was to be cool and peaceful for Sayyidina Ibrahim (as)
Make a Migration Towards Continuously Doing Better
Remember in all the teachings of malakut (heavenly realm), there is a timeless reality. That Sayyidina Adam (as) is inspiring within our hearts that don’t think this is one time, but at that moment when Allah (AJ) through the hijab (veil) of Muharram, and the hijrah (migration) of pilgrimage of moving from bad and always moving towards better even if you think you’re good, that to do even better; Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo, aaminoo.
4:136 – Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo, aaminoo.” (Surat An-Nisa)
“O you who believe! Believe.” (The Women, 4:136)
Even those who believe, that raise your darajah (station) of belief means you’re continuously having to move to the Divinely Presence. So there is no history story in which is of past but our life is a story, in which all the Prophets want to continuously remind us, that Allah (AJ) will forgive you on that Muharram. That Allah (AJ) will open the baab of rahmah (the Gate of Mercy) and forgiveness and ‘Ashura and inspire your heart to make a repentance and a tawbah that Allah (AJ) will forgive your sins.
Allah (AJ) Will Wash Away All Shayateen Trying to Attack You
Sayyidina Nuh (as) comes and reminds, yes! That Allah (AJ) will open the heavens with a water that wash away all the shayateen (devils) that are trying to attack the believer.
54:10-11 – “Fada Aa rabba hu annee Maghloobun Faintasir. (10) Fa fatahna abwaba al sama bi ma in munhamirin. (11) (Surat Al- Qamar)
“Then he called on his Lord: ‘I am one Overpowered/overcome: Please then help (me)! (10) So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. (11)” (The Moon, 54:10-11)
So it means these are tremendous nights, ten nights in which Allah (AJ), Prophet ﷺ inspired that do your best. Try your most to do your best and keep asking for forgiveness, keep asking for forgiveness and that those sins to be washed away.
Your Life is Surrounded by Nimrod Trying to Cast the Fire of Anger
Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) begin to teach that Qulna ya naaru, kunee Bardan wa Salaman (Holy Qu’ran, 21:69), is that our lives are surrounded by Nimrod. Our life is surrounded by Nimrod; it means at every moment, somebody casting a fire upon you, so that you will get angry. If your response is to get angry, you’re on fire and you become from people of jahannam (hellfire), because you’re angry. So Allah (AJ) is inspiring that I took away that fire, I took away that azaab, that in these ten days, Ya Rabbi don’t let me to have ghadab (anger). Don’t let me to enter in a state where my anger becomes so severe as if I’m on fire like shaitan (satan) and I burn everything around me.
Your Heart Cannot Have Faith & Anger as They are Polar Opposites
That inherit from the reality of Quran Al Kareem – that Qulna ya naaru – say to the fire, be cool and peaceful. That opens on ‘Ashura, the secret of that ayah (verse) that Allah (AJ) grant that the anger to be dropped from the servant. That you cannot have faith and anger in the same heart. The heart has to contain love and belief and anger is based on hatred and they are polar opposites.
‘An ‘Atiyat bin ‘Urwatul Sa’di (ra) ‘Anan Nabi ﷺ Qala: “Innal ghadaba minash shaitani wa innash shaitana khuliqa minan ‘Naar, wa innama tutfa annaaru bil Maayi fa iza ghadeba ahadakum falyatawadda.” [Abu Dawud, 4784]
Atiyah Bin Orwatul Sa’di (ra) said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Anger is from Satan, and Satan was created from fire, in which fire is extinguish by water, so if one of you got angry he should make ablution.” [Abu Dawud, 4784]
Patience & Perseverance in Sayyidina Musa’s (as) Heart Saved the People
So then our whole life is about pushing the anger out, pushing the bad characteristic out and that love enter the heart. Patience and perseverance enter into the heart and Sayyidina Musa (as) nation was saved on ‘Ashura. That from the lands of ignorance, Allah (AJ) opened and part the seas and carried the servant towards the heavenly reality of that servant.
26:63 – “Fa awhayna ila Mosa anidrib bi’asaka albahra, fanfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kattawdil ‘aZheem. (Surat Ash-Shu’ara)
“Then We inspired to Moses, “Strike with your staff the sea,” and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.” (The Poets, 26:63)
and
26:64-65 – “Wa azlafna thamma al akhareen. (64) Wa anjayna Musa wa man ma’ahu ajma’een.” (65) (Surat Ash Shu’ara)
“And We advanced thereto the pursuers. (64) And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.” (65) (The Poets, 26:64-65)
Sayyidina Isa (as) was Raised to the Paradise Reality
The promised land for every believer is not this land. This land is the land of testing and bad character, but through the self sacrifice and purification and the ways of tazkiyah (purification). Allah (AJ) when he accepts the struggle and satisfied with the struggle of that character, that you’re truly trying to fight your characteristics, Ruhisiba – that Allah (AJ) send a specific angel in which uplifts that servant and takes them closer to their paradise reality. They begin to see this world differently, they begin to feel and live as if they are living from their paradise reality and that is the parting of the sea.
They take our hand to Sayyidina Isa (as) and Jesus Christ (Peace and Blessings be upon him) comes into our heart and reminds that I was raised on ‘Ashura. When all the world came to attack me, Allah (AJ) saved me and I was lifted from the dunya (worldly realm) reality into my paradise reality, because the sea just parted with Nabi Musa (as). It means our life is a continuous pilgrimage, continuous pilgrimage.
Each Prophet Comes to Complete Your Story & Uplift You
At one point you reach the reality of Sayyidina Adam (as), and they dress you with an Adamic reality. That you’re tawbah and you’re asking a forgiveness, was sincere and Allah (AJ) beginning to grant the magfirah. Then one year you’re practicing, practicing, practicing and you reach to the level of Sayyidina Nuh (as), and then Sayyidina Ibrahim (as), Sayyidina Musa (as) and then to the hand of Sayyidina Isa (as).
That Allah (AJ) sending me to dress you from these lights, that we’re going to uplift you to your paradise reality. That is all this dunya trying to come against you, Allah (AJ) save you from them and make you to be mahfooz, which is the reality of pious people and awliyaullah (saints). That Allah (AJ) knows this reality that you’re being dressed with, these shayateen want to take that and to destroy that and Allah (AJ) says nobody can touch. I raise you in my Divinely Presence so that they don’t even see you, and that they can’t come after you. These shayateen and bad characteristics, they can’t approach that believer to destroy them.
Acceptance of Your Struggle Will Grant You Migration into the City of Lights
It means there is a time in which Allah (AJ) to raise the servant and then what happens is then to be given to the hand of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. That if Allah (AJ) raising you, I will take your hand and bring you into the City of Lights. This City of Lights is my reality, “nurul anwar wa sirratal asrar” (light of every secret and secret of every light), that all the reality of lights is the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. it means each Prophet comes to complete the story. There is no one prophet that has everything. Each one was a page or a chapter within our existence. We have an eternal reality and an eternal book, each one coming to give their dress and what Allah (AJ) has given to them, out of their generosity. And Prophet ﷺ accepting that struggle, says now Allah (AJ) granting for you to be from the people of light and the city of light, come into the city of light, Madinatul Munawwara (luminous city of Prophet ﷺ), Tala’al Badru ‘Alayna (O the full moon rose above us)
Tala’al badru ‘alayna
* Min thaniyatil wada’
Wa jabash shukuru ‘alayna
* Ma da’aa lillahi da’
O the full moon rose above us, From the valley of Wada’, Gratitude is our obligation, as long as anyone calls to Allah (AJ) for help
That you’re coming and entering into the cities of light in which Allah (AJ) love you so much that granted you the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the great intercessor for all creation. It means a tremendous gift, we’ve been given a tremendous gift with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, and these ten days are the days of magfirah, of forgiveness and tawbah.
Imam Hussain (as) and Ahlul Bayt are Tremendous Exemplars
Then they begin to teach you the companions and the Ahlul Bayt and the family of Prophet ﷺ, that this city of lights. You have to annihilate everything from your world, everything that occupies your heart, other than the love of the Divinely Presence. They don’t just say it but they are the example in life.
That Imam Hussain (as) gave a tremendous example in his life. That when the order from Allah (AJ) came, we did not run from that order. The order came to move into that vicinity, he moved to give his teaching, and the people of that neighborhood, people of that area of Karbala, they had asked, they had asked that come and give us guidance, the guidance of your Beloved Grandfather, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ. He accepted and moved into that reality and then they said, “No, no we don’t want to hear from you. We don’t want what you have to teach.” Imam Hussain (as) had asked that then let me to go back; if you don’t want what we have to teach, let us to go back. They said, “Sorry that can’t happen, we have to destroy you.”
This is a symbol for us, an understanding for us that, that reality in which they are dressing us is not an easy reality, and everybody goes through difficulty. Everybody goes through trials and tribulations, but to have patience and perseverance. That to have good characteristic, that in the face of difficulty, you keep the good characteristics, and that you have patience, and that know that those whom you love, they sacrificed tremendous amounts to reach where they reach and to dress us from their blessings.
Remember the Sacrifice of the Lovers of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
In these ten nights then we remember their sacrifice. Remember their love and how much they gave of themselves. We don’t go too deep into that, but everybody should contemplate; everybody should bring home the suffering to yourself. Don’t look at things as far away and say it’s happening to them but not happening to me, therefore I become jahl and heedless.
It means every calamity, bring it to yourself. That when you hear from the family of Prophet ﷺ, from the companions of Prophet ﷺ, from the lovers of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, that they endured such a horrific death, horrific difficulty, you can’t begin to imagine. Cause if you have children and family and loved ones, put yourself in that place. Your brother, sister, mother, father, put yourself into their place – surrounded by difficulty, in their tents asking, “That let us to go home,” and they said, “No, you can’t go home.” “Let us to depart,” “You can not depart,” and they sit and wait for their death, wait for horrific calamity to be put upon them.
It means then the teaching is put upon yourself, remember them. That my Lord, what happens if a calamity comes to me, if a difficulty comes to me. If something surrounds your house and say we’re coming to kill you all, and one by one you’re going to be slaughtered and you have no way of defending yourself, nor your children, nor your family – what do you do? Do you die first so that you don’t have to see their death? Or do they die first and you witness everything?
Slow Down and Contemplate the Difficulties That Imam Hussain (as) Endured
Unimaginable, what type of difficulty that servant went through, Imam Hussain (as). 72 children and companions were slaughtered. They went as 72 people to teach, no armies, and they face 3000 soldiers to destroy and to kill them, not allow them to drink, not allow them to go home. When we sit in our houses and we eating and drinking and having festivities, then they remind that these ten days, slow down, stop, contemplate, think, my Lord what would I do in a situation.
What would I do when I’m holding my child and I have no way of protecting from the difficulty coming? What would I do if I’m holding my grandchild and difficulty all around and they’re coming through the door? It’s not a question that they’re not coming, and those who have survived war and calamities and are here, they know that feeling, they know that feeling within themselves.
Feel the Fear of Death So You Become Compassionate Towards Loved Ones
If you don’t know it, then pray Allah (AJ) to show it to you in a dream. Where in a dream, you have a dream that’s so real as if Allah (AJ) put you in that situation. You feel the fear of death, not your own death, but the death of those whom you love. That you have no way of supporting and helping, the helplessness of that situation. We said it’s not war mongering, it’s nothing of a negative – it’s our life.
If you don’t want to think of it as a war, think of it now as a earthquake, and a tornado, and a calamity. How many parents are digging through buildings to find their dead children? Or the children that are buried under a rubble, what type of feeling is that? If something comes, you’re sitting in the living room, the building is destroyed and the children are buried, your wife is buried, your husband is buried and they’re digging through the dirt to find them. Or now, in a tornado and an earthquake, everything is upside down, means what they want from us, awliyaullah, is be compassionate, be compassionate. That don’t think everything is far from you and you’re special and it not coming to you, it’s coming to a home everywhere.
Make Yourself Cry Before Allah (AJ) Makes You Cry
But when you’re compassionate and saying Ya Rabbi, that my heart is bleeding and my tears are flowing for all their sufferings, who’s going to help them? Who’s going to help me when that suffering comes to me Ya Rabbi? If you can’t make yourself cry, Allah (AJ) will make you to cry. Better to make yourself to cry, that, “Ya Rabbi, I don’t need to be squeezed, I don’t need to be slapped around, I don’t need to be smashed, I see their suffering, I watch their suffering.” I see them with dust coming out all over their face and blood all over their face, and haram, that this shouldn’t be like this and life shouldn’t be like that, why people have no more compassion. They put videos of beating people and everybody laughing while they’re beating a child, or beating a person or beating a woman, or beating animals and slaughtering.
The Entire World is Karbala
It means it’s everywhere, for us right now this whole world is Karbala. This whole world has suffering and people laughing and enjoying and partaking in that suffering. So it means then the people of compassion and the people of muhabbat (love), they look at everything and think of it as yourself. Think of it as your suffering and these things are happening to you.
In these next few nights, these are the nights in which they laid a tremendous suffering upon the family of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ and that Imam Ali (as) with his spiritual reality has to witness that. Sayyidatina Fatimah Zahra (as) with her spirituality has to witness that. Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ with azimat-an-Nabi ﷺ (Prophet ﷺ) has to witness that and all of them from the same belief. They were calling azaan (call to prayer) and praying, didn’t occur to them that as you’re praying you’re going to be slaughtering the family of La ilaha illAllah Muhammadun Rasulallah ﷺ (There is no deity but Allah and Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah),
Take the Door of Spiritual Purification for Your Salvation
It means that open our hearts to feel that difficulty, to be inside of that difficulty and pray that Allah (AJ) save us from calamities. From tornados, from earthquake, from storms, from fire, from whatever direction these difficulties are coming. Ya Rabbi, grant us a najat, grant us a salvation, grant us a safety Ya Rabbi, we are Ahle Muhabbat (people of love). We’re coming with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, love of Ashab an Nabi ﷺ, love of Ahlul Baytin Nabi ﷺ (Holy Family of the Prophet ﷺ), love of all your creation.
We ask that you deal with us in a mercy and a rahmah, Ya Rabbi, from the ruhaniyat (spirituality) and not nafsani (egocentric). That if you don’t come through the door of beautific tajalli, they have a door in which is called nafsani. The nafsani will crush and destroy anybody who wants to walk through that door. There are two doors to move towards Allah (AJ) – the door of ruhaniyat, that will you sit and you clean and you purify and you fight against your bad character, or there is another door in which you do nothing but everything in there will crush and beat and grind that insan down until they’re nothing, khashiya (dust), to be nothing in Allah’s (AJ) presence. We pray Allah (AJ) dress us from ruhaniyat, and through the way of love that we bring ourselves down to avoid the azaab and the anger of Allah (AJ).
Subhana rabbika rabbal ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. Bi hurmati Muhammad al-Mustafa wa bi siri Surat al-Fatiha.
