SECRETS OF HUROOF HA ح AND BA ب ,
HUBB حُبْ – LOVE and HABL حَبْ – ROPE OF ALLAH
From the Teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani as Taught by Shaykh Sayed Nurjan Mirahmadi
A’odhu billahi minash Shaytaanir rajeem
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Maulana Shaykh drawing our attention to ha ح and ba ب ; means the root of ha ح and ba ب , and the importance of the ha ح and ba ب. Means for all of our contemplation, we begin to understand that ha ح and ba ب is hubb حُبْ. Hubb حُبْ is love, that everything is made from love. Means the ahbab احباب and habaa’ib حبايب, means all of that is related from the people of love.
The habaa’ib حبايب (lovers), they are the people of love, Ulil ahbab أُوْلِي الأحباب . They are the people of understanding for the ahbab أحباب has the ba ب in it and has the reference to the understanding of the Ha ح and the ba ب. And Allah ‘Azza wa Jal’s order in holy Qur’an is that, “Hold tight to the rope of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal and don’t separate.”
وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّـهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا ۚ
3:103 Wa’tasimo bi hablillahi jamee’an wa la tafarraqo.
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not separate.” (Surat Al ‘Imran 3:103)
Means then in our daily action we are looking for, what is “hold tight to the rope of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal”? It means that ateeullah, atee ur Rasool, wa Ulil amri minkum,
ياأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُواللَّه وَأَطِيعُوٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ…
4:59 – Ya ayyu hal latheena amanoo Atiu Allaha wa atiur Rasola wa Ulil amre minkum… (Surat an Nisa)
O You who have believed, Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you. (The Women 4:59)
That we are trying all our lives to please Allah ‘Azza wa Jal. And Allah ‘Azza wa Jal is ordering us, “Then you follow Sayyidena Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).” And in the way of following Sayyidena Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is giving us an order, that you follow the Ulil amr.
Who are the Ulil Amr (Those in Authority)
The Ulil amr and the people of authority, they begin to describe that who are the Ulil amr? They are the people of the ha ح and the ba ب. They are the ropes of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, they are the rope that connect us to the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). And they begin to teach us that: when everything we are learning, go beyond the physical, that the hablillah حَبْ لله, the rope of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal must have a reality. Its root is in the understanding of the ha ح and the ba ب.
We said before that the ba ب, when we are trying to understand the power of the ba ب , that all of Qur’an is in thirty juz. Means like a laser, and these thirty juz, they say all of that is in the seven verses of Suratul Fatiha (first chapter of Holy Quran). Again, like a laser that you are drawing to a point of power, and all of Suratul Fatiha, which is all of holy Qur’an, is in nineteen letters of Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. All of that qudra, all of that power now, is like a laser, the center, most powerful point of the laser, which in the dunya laser now can cut through steel, can cut through buildings, has so much force and so much power, all of that olum علوم (knowledge), all of holy Qur’an, it can be found in the ba ب .
القرآن=٣٠ جز = سورة الفاتحة= بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم = ب
Quran =>30 Juz (parts) =>Fatiha =>Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem =>Ba
The Nuqt (dot) of Ba ب – Bahrul Qudra بحر القدرة
The ba ب is like an alif ا, that is in submission, and making sajdah (prostration). Below it Allah ‘Azza wa Jal put a nuqt. That nuqt is representing the oceans of Power, that when two forces come together, they create an energy, they don’t even have to touch. When two wires and two electrical forces come together, the come close enough, and the energy jumps and begins to form, ‘cause there’s no gravity, a circle. That nuqt represents that reality, represents that ocean of Power (Bahrul Qudra). Can’t say from where that’s coming now but for the understanding: that nuqt (dot) is an ocean of Power.
Then this understanding, who are the habaa’ib حبايب, who are the people of the rope? That ba ب is all of holy Qur’an. All the power of Bismillahir rahmanir raheem all condensed into a laser of the ba ب, and this is the Bahr ul Qudra بحر القدرة, the ocean of Power. ‘Cause Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, again going back to the holy Qur’an, Allah ‘Azza wa Jal’s uncreated Divinely Speech is holy Qur’an. That can be like a laser brought down to such a point that it can be found in the power of the ba ب .
So that’s a powerful letter, a powerful expression. Allah ‘Azza wa Jal talking about Divinely Love means, “All of My Divinely Force and Qudra, it is emanating from a center point within this creation.” And that is why qalb قلب (heart).
Qalb قلب (Heart) : Qaaf ق, Laam ل , Ba ب
Qalb قلب . We said before the qaaf, lam, qalb; qalb on Me. When we want to know heart, Qaaf ق, Laam ل , Ba ب , qalb قلب on me is for me to know myself so that I can know my Lord. That the qalb قلب on me is the center of my authority, is the center of power. If my heart is good, all of me is good. If my heart is bad, doesn’t matter what energy I am trying to open, all of me is bad.
“أَلا وَإِنَّ فِى الْجَسَدِ مُضْغَةً إِذَا صَلَحَتْ صَلَحَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ، وَإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ، أَلا وَهِى الْقَلْبُ “
Ala wa inna fil Jasadi mudghatan idha salahat salahal jasadu kulluho, wa idha fasadat fasadal jasadu kulluho, ala wa heyal Qalb.
“There is a piece of flesh in the body, if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoiled the whole body gets spoiled and that is the heart.” Prophet Muhammad (saws)
It is the center of my authority, the center of the Divinely Presence, that Allah ‘Azza wa Jal saying, “I’m not on heaven and I’m not on earth but I’m on the heart of my believer.” So for us, we have to understand the qalb قلب is the center of our authority, center of power.
مَا وَسِعَنِيْ لَا سَمَائِيْ ولا اَرْضِيْ وَلَكِنْ وَسِعَنِيْ قَلْبِ عَبْدِيْ اَلْمُؤْمِنْ
maa wasi`anee laa Samayee, wa la ardee, laakin wasi’anee qalbi ‘Abdee alMu’min.
“Neither My Heavens nor My Earth can contain Me, but the heart of my Believing Servant.”
But qalb قلب in heaven is a direction of where this power going to be. Means the qaaf lam, qul قل, Allah’s Divinely Speech is coming to the ba ب . That is all of that; that is how you understood all of Holy Qur’an is in the ba ب. Because even the word qalb قلب denotes that. ‘Qaaf wal Qur’an al-Majeed’, all of it can be found in the ba ب.
ق ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ ١
50:1 – Qaf, wal Quranil Majeed.
Qaf. By the honored Qur’an. (Surat Qaf 50:1)
Qalb قلب (Heart) of Quran is YaSeen (saws)
Allah’s Divinely Speech, “Qul قل ” it directs itself to the ba ب. So qalb al Qur’an قلب القرآن is Suratul Yaseen (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). So Qalb al Qur’an, that is why we described before Qur’an and all of this, the qalb of Qur’an is Sayyidina Yaseen (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), means it is Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). That the soul of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is the heart of the Divinely Presence.
And within the heart of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), Allah (‘Azza wa Jal)’s Divinely Lights, Divinely Qudra is emanating. That is the ocean of Power. When awliyaAllah (saints) and pious people are taking our souls. We are asking our souls like a GPS, be very direct about what you are asking for, that, “Ya Rabbi, I’m asking to enter Your oceans of Satisfaction, Your oceans of Rahmah (mercy). I’m entering and asking to enter into the oceans of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). And from within the ocean of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) asking to enter into the qalb قلب .”
That is why Yaseen, HabeebAllah; Taha RasolAllah. These are different authorities of the reality of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
صَـلَا ةُ الله، سَـلاَمُ الله عَـلَى طٰـهَ رَسُـوْلِ الله
صَـلَا ةُ الله، سَـلاَمُ الله عَـلَى يـٰسٓ حَـبِيْـبِ الله
Salatullah salamullah, ‘ala Taha Rasollillah
Salatullah salamullah, ‘ala Yaseen Habibillah
Allah’s praise, Allah’s blessing upon Taha, Messenger of Allah
Allah’s praise, Allah’s blessing upon the Yaseen, Beloved of Allah
HabeebAllah because the Love and the Qudra of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, is in the secret of the name Yaseen of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Means we are entering into the heart of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) asking to be dressed from these people, who are the people of, of hubb حب, of love, who are the habaa’ib (lovers). They are dressed from that ba. They are dressed from that Oceans of Power, they are dressed from ‘alam al Qur’an khalaq al-insaan. They are dressed from Holy Qur’an.
عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ﴿٢﴾ خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ ٣
55:1-2 – ‘Allamal Qur’an. Khalaqal Insaan. (Surat Ar Rahman)
It is He Who has taught the Qur’an. He has created Man.
(The Beneficent 55: 2-3)
That’s why when we are reading the nasheeds, they said, “Sahibul Qur’an jaddal Hassani wal Husayn.”
اَسْيَادِي الْحَسَّنْ وَالْحُسَّيْنِ جَدُّكُمْ، صَاحِبُ الْقُرْآنَ
Asyadil Hassan wal Hussaini Jaddukum, saahibul Qur’ana
Our Masters, Al Hassan and Al Hussain
Your Grandfather is the owner of Qu‘ran
This was inheritors of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). When we don’t understand the greatness of our Prophet (alaihis salaatus salaam), that his soul is what type of soul that can convey the word of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal. That Allah ‘Azza wa Jal says, “Nothing can control that power, there is nothing that can hold that power. If I release that power, it will destroy everything.”
لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُّتَصَدِّعًا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ وَتِلْكَ الْأَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
59:21 – Law anzalna hadha al Qurana ‘ala jabalin laraaytahu, khashi’an mutasaddi’an min khashyatillahi wa tilkal amthalu nadribuha linnasi la’allahum yatafakkaroon. (Surat Al Hashr)
If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. (Quran, The Exile 59:21)
What type of soul in reality has the ability to take that Divinely Speech? This is also for us to understand the soul of all the prophets. They are not something regular. These (souls) are something created by Allah ‘Azza wa Jal to contain that message. Each soul of each prophet had such a power in which to control or to contain that qudra. But this is something that can be inherited of barakah and blessings.
Means the people of love, the way of love and entering into the gate of love. They are beginning to describe that, who are the people of hubb حب, they are dressed from the ba ب , they are dressed from Holy Qur’an. They are dressed from Bahrul Qudra بحر القدرة . As a result of that Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, dips their souls into the oceans of Al-Hayat الحيات because they are eternal souls. Allah ‘Azza wa Jal dressing you from Holy Qur’an, your soul must now be eternal. Means they are the people of hayat, they are the ever-living souls.
That is whom Allah ‘Azza wa Jal wants us to be in touch with. That’s whom Allah wa Jal says, “Keep their company.”
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّـهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ ١١٩
9:119 – Ya ayyuhal ladheena amanoo ittaqollaha wa kono ma’as sadiqeen. (Surat at Tawba)
O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true. (The Repentance 9:119)
Because of their hayat, because of their eternity, they walk on the earth with their eternal reality. That’s why as much as you eat and drink and pray in their associations, you are praying in their paradise. If the eternity of their soul has been opened upon their physicality, wherever they are, Allah makes it as a paradise for them. Whatever you eat with them is from their paradise reality. Whatever you drink with them is from their paradise reality. Whatever you pray around them is from their paradise reality.
Means these are not something that we can easily understand because everybody is made physical. When we are not physical and understand the reality of the soul and begin to understand what is God dressing the soul with of pious people. He is dressing it from ‘alam al-Qur’an khalaq al-insaan, that they are walking reality of Holy Qur’an.
Somebody had mentioned something nice. There was a hadith about the greatness of those who recite the Qur’an from heart, from their qalb, but not only in reference to the memorization of the Holy Qur’an, but they recited from the reality of their heart. Not that they memorized it only by heart but that their heart is able to convey the realities of Holy Qur’an. That is the higher darajat (station). That is the higher reality, that the heart became so pure that Allah ‘Azza wa Jal dresses it from Divinely Lights, dresses it from Divinely Blessings, dresses it from His Divinely Speech.
As a result, the soul is hayat, is ever-living. Means that becomes our goal in life; to find these people of love who are the habaa’ib, who are the lovers of Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), who are the lovers of all the prophets. The lovers of the prophets, they are carrying the reality and that’s why Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) described that, “You will be with whom you love.”
الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَب
Almar o, ma’a man ahab.
“One is with those whom he loves.” Prophet Muhammad (saws)
And that has its own deep ocean of understanding that so much so, that when Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq heard that, he began to make his sama and his whirling. All the mevlevi took from the reality of Sayyidina Abu Bakr Siddiq; that he whirled out of the love of what Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had just disclosed: “You will be with whom you love.”
Compete in Love
Means you cannot compete in worshipness with Allah ‘Azza wa Jal. You can’t pray to impress Allah, you can’t fast to impress Allah ‘Azza wa Jal. You can’t do anything in worshipness to impress Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, because there is always somebody who prayed better, there is somebody who always fasted better, there was always somebody who was better in everything.
But what we can compete, that has infinite reward is compete in love. Compete in love and competing in love, there is no down side and it’s all reward ‘cause there’s nothing to judge love by. You are not coming with actions and asking Allah ‘Azza wa Jal, “You judge my prayer,” and He says, “But your intention was wrong on that prayer.” You judge my this or you judge my that, my intention could be wrong and Allah can throw the amal. But what Allah cannot throw is love, “Ya Rabbi, I am loving Your prophets. I’m loving Your way, I’m loving Your Divinely Presence.” No matter how deficient my love is, it’s always given a gift and always rendered Allah ‘Azza wa Jal’s Satisfaction.
So then the awliya Allah come into our lives, pious people come into our lives, these are the people of hub حب , that they say, “Compete in love. Do everything you can do for love. Bring food for love, bring water for love, participate for love and that has a infinite reward.”
Subhana rabbika rabbil ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wa salaamun ‘alal mursaleen, walhamduli-Llahi rabbil ‘aalameen.
